Types of Vietnam VISA

Types of VISA depend on the reason and purpose of entry. Each type of VISA will also have a different validity period.

Some concepts you need to know

  1. Entry: is the act of foreigners entering Vietnamese territory through border gates.
  2. Visa: is a document issued by a competent Vietnamese agency, allowing foreigners to enter Vietnam; Valid once or multiple times and cannot be converted for other purposes.

Type of VISA For who Duration
NG1 Diplomatic VISA types, issued to guests coming to Vietnam according to diplomatic protocols. No more than 12 months
NG2 No more than 12 months
NG3 No more than 12 months
NG4 No more than 12 months
LV1 Issued to people working with state agencies such as: committees, agencies, units under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; National Assembly, Government, Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the State Audit of Vietnam….. No more than 12 months
LV2 Issued to individuals working with political and social organizations, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). No more than 12 months
ĐT1 Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contribution worth VND 100 billion or more. It is also issued to foreign investors investing in industries, occupations, and areas with investment incentives No more than 5 years
ĐT2 Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contribution value from 50 billion VND to under 100 billion VND or investing in industries and professions that encourage investment and development develop No more than 5 years
ĐT3 Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with capital contribution value from 03 billion VND to less than 50 billion VND. No more than 3 years
ĐT4 Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam with contributed capital worth less than 03 billion VND. No more than 12 months
DN1

Issued to foreigners working with businesses and other organizations with legal status according to regulations No more than 12 months
DN2 Issued to foreigners offering services, establishing commercial presence, and performing other activities according to international treaties to which Vietnam is a member. No more than 12 months
NN1 Issued to people who are Heads of representative offices or projects of international organizations and foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam. No more than 12 months
NN2 Issued to heads of representative offices, branches of foreign traders, representative offices of economic, cultural organizations, and other foreign professional organizations in Vietnam No more than 12 months
NN3 Issued to people working with foreign non-go vernmental organizations, representative offices, branches of foreign traders, representative offices of economic, cultural and other foreign professional organizations in Vietnam. No more than 12 months
DH Issued to people who practice and study. No more than 12 months
HN Issued to people attending conferences and seminars. No more than 90 days
PV1 Issued for resident journalists and press members in Vietnam No more than 12 months
PV2 Issued to reporters and press for short-term activities in Vietnam. No more than 12 months
LĐ1 Issued to foreigners working in Vietnam with confirmation that they are not subject to work permits, except in cases an international treaty in which Vietnam is a member has different provisions. No more than 2 years
LĐ2 Issued to foreigners working in Vietnam who require a work permit. No more than 2 years

DL Issued to tourists No more than 90 days
TT Issued to foreigners who are spouses, children under 18 years old of foreigners issued visas with symbols LV1, LV2, LS, DT1, DT2, DT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LD1, LD2 or foreigners other than the father, mother, wife, husband, or children of Vietnamese citizens. No more than 12 months
VR Issued to people visiting relatives or for other purposes. No more than 180 days

SQ

People entering Vietnam for market research, tourism, visiting relatives, or medical treatment as these the following cases:

People who have a working relationship with an agency competent to issue Vietnamese visas abroad and their spouses, children, or people with a written request from a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country.

People who have a note of guarantee from diplomatic missions or consulates of foreign countries located in the host country.

No more than 30 days
LS Issued to foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam. No more than 5 years
EV Electronic visa. Depends on situation

It should be noted that to apply for a visa, the passport must be valid for more than 6 months and the visa validity period is at least 30 days shorter than the validity of the passport or international travel document.
